As well as the ITEC syllabus listed below, we enhance this training with The Interrelationship of Body Systems and Immunity as vital aspects of understanding the body Holistically.   Full-Time students will also take the longer HCE examination paper in Anatomy & Physiology, which is approved by ARCHTI.

Specification

Aims and Objectives

The main aim of the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology is to enable Learners to gain the necessary underpinning knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology required by the Complementary Therapies, Beauty Therapy and Sport and Fitness Industry. This qualification is suitable for Learners aged 16 and over and is designed to provide occupational competence at Level 3. It also provides a sound platform into further training at Level 3

Content

This qualification is for Learners who want to work within the Complementary Therapies, Beauty Therapy or Sport and Fitness Industry. The qualification consists of 1 mandatory unit with a total of 100 hours of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification

The main knowledge the Learner will develop is:

  • · The Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology of the Body Systems - to include the cell, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems

  2. This Qualification is listed in the Ofqual Register of Qualifications
  3. Learners may progress on to qualifications at Level 3 such as the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies, the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Massage, the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Reflexology, the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Aromatherapy
  4. This qualification does not form part of an Apprenticeship

Guided Learning (GL)

Guided Learning is ‘the activity of a Learner in being taught or instructed by – or otherwise participating in education or training under the immediate guidance or supervision of – a Lecturer, Supervisor, Tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training.’ This includes ‘the activity of being assessed if the assessment takes place under the immediate guidance or supervision of a Lecturer, Supervisor, Tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training’

Total Qualification Time (TQT)

Total Qualification Time is the number of notional hours which represents an estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected to be required, in order for a Learner to achieve and demonstrate the achievement of the level of attainment necessary for the award of the qualification

Assessment

This qualification will be externally assessed using the assessment method as set out in the Table below:- Table 1

Grading of the Qualification

The assessment task required for the unit of the qualification (detailed in Table 1 of the specification) must be completed and awarded a Pass mark before the complete qualification can be certificated

The overall qualification is graded, Pass - 50% - 74%, Merit - 75% - 89%, Distinction – 90%-100%
